Sales forecasting tools: a UK evaluation checklist

Reviewed 14 October 2026. This guide is a procurement checklist. Vendor pages change by region, plan and billing basis. Confirm a UK quote showing pounds, tax treatment, minimum commitment and usage allowances before relying on a price.
What a useful sales forecast must show
Start with the decision: staffing, cash planning, purchasing or revenue review. Define the forecast period and the measure being predicted. A forecast is useful only when the team can compare it with actual results and explain significant changes.
Compare tools against your pipeline
Use the CRM and revenue systems already holding the relevant records as the starting point. Pipedrive describes pipeline management, reporting and sales automation. Compare the current product and contract against the capabilities your team needs.
| Test | Evidence to ask for |
|---|---|
| Data coverage | Which stages, amounts, dates and activity fields are required; how missing values are handled |
| Forecast quality | Historical back-testing against a simple baseline, with error by period and segment |
| Explanation | Which changes drove the forecast and which assumptions a manager can challenge |
| Integration | Permissions, refresh frequency, duplicate handling and export |
| Operating cost | Seats, plan minimum, AI add-ons, data connectors, implementation and support |
Protect the evaluation from misleading comparisons
A survey showing different revenue outcomes for AI users and non-users does not establish that the tool caused the difference. Test your own data and keep the original forecast alongside the revised one so improvement can be measured. Separate forecast accuracy from sales growth.
Build a UK budget
Request a current UK quote showing pounds, VAT, billing term and minimum seats. Do not convert dollar prices and present them as local list prices.
