Claude consulting for UK businesses

Claude consulting is advisory work: we help UK organisations decide where Anthropic's Claude fits, train the people who will use it, and provide ongoing oversight as adoption matures. The AI Consultancy is a registered Anthropic Consulting Partner and an independent Anthropic consultancy based in London, operating UK-wide. This is the advisory tier. Where you need a system built and deployed, that is our sister service, Claude implementation. Pricing is scoped after a free initial consultation, never quoted from a list.

What Claude consulting covers

Claude consulting and Claude implementation answer two different questions. The consulting tier answers "what should we do, and how do we get our people ready": readiness assessment, use-case prioritisation, model and tier selection, governance, team training, and continuing advisory once Claude is in use. The implementation tier answers "build it for us": scoping, deployment, integration, prompt and tool engineering, evaluation, and rollout. Most engagements start with consulting and either stop there, because the client's own team can execute, or progress into a build.

We work this way because the most common reason a Claude rollout underdelivers is not the technology. It is an unclear use case, an untrained team, or the absence of anyone owning the decision after the contract ends. Consulting closes those gaps directly. Where a build is the right next step, the natural route is our Claude implementation service, which covers deployment, integration, and operation end to end.

Three advisory pillars

Strategy and readiness

We assess where Claude will deliver measurable value before any commitment is made. This covers a Claude readiness review of your data, processes, and team capability; a prioritised use-case shortlist with hard and soft benefits separated; and model selection across the Claude family, where Opus suits the hardest reasoning and long-document work, Sonnet covers most production workloads at lower cost, and Haiku handles high-volume, latency-sensitive tasks.

We map the governance and compliance posture you need before deployment, including UK GDPR lawful basis, data residency, retention, and the sector overlay for regulated clients (FCA, SRA, ICAEW, MHRA, and the EU AI Act where it applies). The output is a written, defensible recommendation you can act on, whether you build with us, build in-house, or decide the case is not yet strong enough to proceed. For a structured pre-deployment screen, this pillar pairs with our AI Readiness Assessment.

Training and enablement

Adoption is where most rollouts fail, so training is a service in its own right, not an afterthought bundled into a build. We run team workshops and role-specific training tailored to how each function actually works: legal teams on drafting, review, and confidentiality controls; finance on analysis, reconciliation, and what must stay outside a model; operations on workflow and document tasks; communications on drafting and editing to a house style.

We coach prompt engineering as a practical skill rather than a list of tricks, and provide change-management support so usage embeds rather than spikes and fades. For organisations that want continuity, we offer ongoing office hours where staff bring real tasks and leave with working approaches. This pillar can be delivered on its own, with no implementation attached, for teams that already have Claude access and need to use it well.

Ongoing partnership

Some clients need advisory capacity that continues past a single project. We provide retainer-based Claude advisory: monthly strategy reviews, briefings when Anthropic ships model updates or pricing changes that affect your setup, and vendor-neutral oversight of Claude work being delivered by your own team or another supplier. This is independent assurance, not delivery: we review architecture, prompts, evaluation, and governance, and flag risk early.

Where a client needs deeper, embedded AI leadership rather than periodic advisory, the better fit is our Fractional Chief AI Officer service, which provides continuing executive-level ownership, board reporting, and portfolio governance across more than just Claude. We will tell you which of the two matches your situation during scoping rather than defaulting to the larger engagement.

Why an Anthropic Consulting Partner

The AI Consultancy is a registered Anthropic Consulting Partner under the Anthropic Partner Network, the partner programme Anthropic launched on 12 March 2026. The credential is verifiable and it is specific to Claude advisory and delivery work. We have published a full explainer of what the status means for UK clients procuring Claude services, including how to verify a provider's partner standing: What it means to be an Anthropic Consulting Partner.

In practice the credential changes three things. It gives us earlier sight of Claude features and model changes, so our advice reflects where the platform is going rather than only where it is today. It gives us a direct escalation channel to Anthropic when a client issue needs it, rather than relying on general support queues. And it means our practitioners hold validated Claude Certified Architect status alongside AWS, Google Cloud, and Nvidia certifications, so recommendations are made by people Anthropic has assessed against a defined standard. None of this makes us non-independent: where Claude is the wrong tool for a use case, we say so.

How engagements start

Engagements begin with a free 30-minute consultation. We use it to understand the problem, the constraints, and whether there is a credible fit. There is no charge and no obligation to proceed.

If the fit is real, we issue a short scoping note setting out the recommended engagement shape: a fixed-price discovery sprint for strategy and readiness work, a defined training programme for enablement, or a retainer proposal for ongoing partnership. You receive a written, itemised proposal covering scope, timeline, and commercial terms before any paid work starts. We move to a paid engagement only when both sides agree the value is clear. This mirrors the commercial posture on our Claude implementation service: free first conversation, scoped proposal, no fixed fee table.

Pricing

Each engagement is scoped after a free initial consultation. We do not publish a fixed fee table because a half-day team workshop, a two-week readiness and strategy sprint, and a continuing monthly advisory retainer are materially different commitments. After the consultation we issue a written, itemised proposal covering scope, timeline, and commercial terms.

Where a Claude project is eligible for UK public funding, we run the eligibility screen alongside the advisory scope; see our Grant-Funded AI Implementation service.

Where your data sensitivity does not permit a cloud-LLM rollout under any data processing agreement, the alternative path is Private AI Concierge, an on-premises deployment with optional Claude API fallback in hybrid mode.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Claude consulting and Claude implementation?+
Claude consulting is advisory work: readiness assessment, use-case prioritisation, model and tier selection, governance, team training, and ongoing oversight. Claude implementation is delivery: we scope, deploy, integrate, and operate Claude inside your business. Consulting answers what you should do and how to get ready; implementation answers build it for us. Many clients start with consulting and either execute in-house from there or progress into an implementation engagement. The two are sister services and are often sequenced, but each can be bought on its own.
Do you only work with Claude, or other LLMs too?+
We specialise in Claude and hold Anthropic Consulting Partner status, but we are not single-vendor. Our advice covers ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and open-weight models where they are the better fit for a use case, and most enterprises end up running more than one platform. Where Claude is not the right tool, we say so. The specialism reflects depth of Claude expertise, not a commitment to recommend it regardless of fit.
What does an Anthropic Consulting Partner actually do differently?+
The credential gives earlier sight of Claude features and model changes, a direct escalation channel to Anthropic for client issues, and practitioners who hold validated Claude Certified Architect status. In practice this means advice reflects where the platform is heading, not only its current state, and that recommendations come from people assessed against a defined Anthropic standard. Partner status is verifiable; our explainer article sets out how UK procurement teams can confirm a provider's standing.
Can you advise on a Claude rollout being built by our internal team?+
Yes. Vendor-neutral oversight of Claude work delivered by your own team, or by another supplier, is part of the ongoing partnership pillar. We review architecture, prompt and tool design, evaluation, and governance, and flag risk early. This is independent assurance rather than delivery, which means you keep build ownership in-house while getting a validated second opinion on the decisions that are hard to reverse later.
How long does a typical consulting engagement run?+
It depends on the pillar. A focused team training programme can run over a few days to a few weeks. A strategy and readiness sprint typically runs one to two weeks. Ongoing partnership retainers run monthly with a minimum term agreed at the outset. We scope the duration in the written proposal after the free consultation, and we do not stretch an engagement beyond the point where it adds value.
Do you handle UK GDPR and data residency requirements?+
Yes. Governance and compliance are part of the strategy and readiness pillar. We map lawful basis, data residency, and retention against your obligations, including the sector overlay for regulated clients (FCA, SRA, ICAEW, MHRA) and the EU AI Act where it applies. Claude can be operated in a UK or EU data residency configuration through AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI; we design the advisory recommendation against your specific regulatory reality rather than a generic template.
Can you train our team without delivering implementation?+
Yes. Training and enablement is available as a standalone service for teams that already have Claude access and want to use it well. This covers role-specific workshops, prompt engineering coaching, change-management support, and optional ongoing office hours. There is no requirement to buy an implementation engagement alongside it.
How quickly can we get started?+
The free 30-minute consultation can usually be booked within a few working days. From there, a scoping note and written proposal follow quickly, and training or advisory work can typically begin shortly after the proposal is agreed. Timelines for larger strategy or retainer engagements are confirmed in the proposal. To start, book a free consultation by phone, email, or the contact form.
