HazardProof: Video-First AI Compliance Evidence for UK Construction

How The AI Consultancy supported founder Grace, through our AI Mentorship Programme, to design and validate HazardProof, a video-first AI hazard evidence platform for the UK's most dangerous industry. The engagement covered market research, product definition, Google Cloud architecture and an eight-week pilot build plan.

The Challenge

Construction is the UK's most dangerous industry. There were 51 fatalities in 2023/24, the highest of any sector, up 13% year on year and 4.9 times the all-industry average. An estimated 2.5 million working days are lost to health and safety incidents annually. The human and commercial cost is enormous.

Existing compliance tools are form-first. They produce checklists but not defensible, time-stamped visual proof that hazards were identified, addressed and verified at the point of work. Construction companies were carrying real regulatory exposure because their compliance layer could not evidence what had actually happened on site.

Grace, a participant in The AI Consultancy's AI Mentorship Programme, wanted to build a proof-first alternative. The engagement needed to answer three questions: is the market real, is the product defensible, and is the build achievable on a pilot-sized budget.

The SME segment was confirmed as structurally underserved, with large enterprises currently accounting for around 70% of EHS software spend. HazardProof was positioned as the first video-first, AI-powered hazard evidence platform in UK construction, enabling a clear first-mover advantage into the underserved SME tier.
